Unity & Spellbinders = A Merry Little Christmas

53 Degrees in Michigan today. At least we got 1 day of average temperatures!
So, I got some new Spellbinders in I wanted to play with today. This is from the Valiant Honor pack.

My Very First Shaker Card - Merry Christmas

This card was created for a fun challenge over at Cut it Up to use both non traditional Christmas colors and a shaped card other than a square or rectangle! Which was super fun because I'm a fan of the non traditional christmas colors, my white tree is decorated with pinks, blues, green and oranges! This was also my first attempt at a shaker card!! I didn't have any foam, which is traditionally used, so I just made a multi-layered frame with cardstock, here's what I did.

First I designed and cut out this image from miss kate cuttables. I cut out three background layers, two white and one transparency. I used the cricut design space to size and create the little frames to layer the shaker portion of the card. 5 layers worked for me. You could also just cut out one frame from some fun foam. And then cut the top chevron pattern.

On the white background layer I stamped some fun snowflakes and sentiments, before assembling the shaker card together with sequins and some flaked glitter. I then mounted the front of the card, onto a back white background layer by scoring and folding a flap on the back piece and adhering to the card.

Cardstock: Recollections; White
Stamps: Hero Arts; CL343, CL540, CL562, CL541
Ink: Hero Arts; Soft Pool, Brillance; Sky Blue, Pearlescent Orchid
Glitter: Martha Stewart, Flaked
Misc: Pink, Teal, and Silver Sequins and Twine
Tools: Cricut Explore
Cuts: Miss Kate Cuttables; Ornaments with Flourish

an Amazing Birthday card

I love washi tape. I buy loads of washi tape. But I never actually use washi tape.
It never seems to fit where I want it or work out the way it was intended.
Until Now! I had seen someone make some fun Washi Tape flags previously and
wanted to give it a try myself! I also just love this stamp from Simon Says Stamp.
I actually combined two stamp sets, that coordinated well, but needed to line them up properly, which is where my KellyCraft Get-It-Straight Laser Square & Multi-Mat™ came in handy!
I used the laser square to mark where I needed to stamp the fun dots border with the main stamp on the card. Then was able to remove it and stamp and stamp the little circles to go underneath.

After stamping the main sentiment I added a few starts here and there also from the fun stamp set! I thought about embellishing further with some glitter or glossy accents, but decided to keep it simple.
Hope you Like!

December 25th - Merry Christmas

Stamps: Hero Arts; Wallpaper Striped Background,  Lawn Fawn; Quinns ABCs
Ink: Ranger; Barn Door Distress Ink, Martha Stewart Glitter Marker, Hero Arts White
Misc: Gold Glitter, Perfect Pearls Yellow, Perfect Pearls Mist, Glossy Accents
Tools: Cricut Expression 2
Carts:  Teresa Collins December 25th, 3d Floral Home Decor

First I stamped the background image onto some vellum & adhered onto kraft card base.
I cut all the pieces from Cricut, as well as a matching circle which was cut from a piece of cardstock lined with Sookwang tape sheet to be glittered. I spritz the poinsetta with some perfect pearls mist then glittered a few of the edges with a paste I made from ritz ultra fine glitter and glossy accents. I stamped my image onto a fussy cut banner flag, colored in with a glitter marker, and covered with glossy accents for a dimensional effect.

Deviled Eggs: Southern Style w/ A Twist

Yummy Yummy in my Tummy!
These were for the work Thanksgiving potluck.
It was the only thing not on the sign-up sheet since I waited until
the very last second to choose a dish, but, it all worked out well!
I was combining a few different concepts since there are so many
recipes and way to make devilled eggs. Here's what I came up with.

Southern Style Deviled Eggswith a twist

12 Eggs, Hard Boiled, Yolks Seperated
(if you want perfect hard boiled Eggs every time, see below)
1/4 Cup Mayo +/- To your taste
1tsp Yellow Mustard
1tsp Honey Dijon Mustard
2tbs Sweet Pickle Relish
Salt & Pepper
Smoked Paprika & Dill Garnish

If you want to pipe, your going to need to use a mixer to combine all ingredients.
If you're going to spoon in, just mix well.
Garnish with Smoke Paprika and Dill

Use a Pressure Cooker!
I have an electric one.
Place em on the rack with a cup of water beneath.
6 Minutes on High.
Pop in Cool Water for a hot minute, then peel while warm.
Perfect. Every. Time.

Christmas Card with Cricut

Well, The radio has started playing Holiday music and the stores are all decked out. I guess 'tis the season! I could do without the weather though, 'Polar Vortex' is on its way, Yay!

So I finally decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to the Cricut Image Library. $9.99 a month for a ton of images, pretty good deal. Of course, Then your choices are that much more difficult LOL so I went with the first Christmas Tree image I find for today. Here's what I came up with;

1. Create an A2 Card Base in plain white cardstock. Round corners.
2. Cut a step down layer. I used Spellbinders A2 mat cuts.
3. Cut another step down layer, or in this case I cut a lacey background image from the
    paperlace cricut cartridge.
4. Cut another step down layer.
5. On the final step down layer, cut or place the desired image. I cut the image directly
onto the layer and mounted on another same size layer of coordinating cardstock.
6. Embellish and Add Sentiment.

Peace Joy & Love

Happy Election Day All!! While today's theme might be the ol' blue & red, that's not a good color scheme for a Holiday card! This card kind of reflects the holiday style in my house. My decor is more of the modern pinks/silvers versus your old fashion Red & Green. Not that I don't love it also :)
