Woolite.. For Everyday?

Did you know Woolite has expanded their product line to include more then just fabric softener? They are now selling detergent. Woolite sent me some samples to evaluate and share with my friends. Here's what I thought.

On a Good, Better, Best basis I would probably put the new Woolite in the "better" category. There is definitely a lot of much worse brands and types of detergent. Ones that leave a filmy residue on your clothes. Ones that don't even fully dissolve in the washer. My experience with Woolite didn't generate any of these issues. I found it to be comparable to most basic detergents.

Price is a huge factor for all of us, especially with laundry detergent, since it isn't cheap. And you do get what you pay for. Based on its performance during my evaluation I find Woolite to be over priced. I think they would do better by themselves to be more competitive, price wise. They are currently possibly the highest priced detergent, with the exception of all nature and "free" brands. I would consider Woolite comparable to Tide or Gain, but comes in at $3-$4 more for a 100oz bottle. Keep in mind thought, Woolite everyday is High Efficiency safe... Other detergents aren't or have a separate high efficiency safe. This could be the reason for the price difference. And I don't use a high efficiency machine, so I am more accustom the basic laundry detergent.

Performance is also important when choosing a detergent. The detergent manufactures have been getting very creative. I've had little pods that don't dissolve  and therefore don't wash your clothes. My mother, a house cleaner, notices that any highly perfumed detergent leaves a horrible residue on her rags. And some detergents, just don't work. Woolite works! I experienced no "side effects". The clothes come out smelling clean, they are clean, and there are no films or residues left behind.

I am partial to detergents with a strong after wash smell or perfume, but I know a lot of people are not. If you are one of those people, then you Woolite is for you. The clothe have a general clean smell, with no strong perfumes.

I used my personal samples on a load of clothes as well as my sheets to see how they would do. I had a hoodie, my favorite hoodie, that for some reason would never get clean around the neck / hood area. The more I washed it the worse it started to smell, just it that area. Woolie did the job. The hoodie is finally clean!
Before Woolite

Then I have my sheets a try. They get pretty decent wear spots right where I sleep. I hate it, because the perimeter of the sheets still look new out of the box, then there is my body pattern. You can see on the pillows how they looked new ( I don't use the pillows).
After Woolite

The photo on the right shows the after Woolite. There wasn't much of a difference unfortunately, but I don't think I would've gotten any different results with another detergent either.

Overall, I find Woolite to be a very comparable and competitive detergent in the high efficiency department. I would like to see the detergent more competitively priced with regular detergent, but with high efficiency machines becoming the norm, regular detergent will eventually be a thing of the past anyway.

The Cottenelle Clean Care Routine

First, I need to tell you a little about my toilet paper history. I've used the same paper, for 27 years (that's my whole life). Aside from at friends houses / public places, It's always been the same brand of toilet paper.
In my defense, and a suggestion for Cottenelle and the others, there is only one brand that boldly advertises "Septic Safe"
Unknown to us, Cotonelle is septic safe. We could've been using it this whole time *facepalm*

I was sent some cottenelle paper & wipes also know as The Cottenelle Clear Care Routine as a sample to evaluate. I was planning on just giving my septic a beating, until I read the back of the package (something I've never done with toilet paper) and learned that not only the TP itself, but the wipes too were septic safe.
::: excited :::
And it begins. We started using the routine as it was intended. Toilet Paper then wipes.. Just like to commercial, you wouldn't take a shower with no water right? First of all, its nice to be able to use a reasonable amount of toilet paper without having "leakage" on your hands. Gross, I know, but this is a review on toilet paper, we're going to have to get a little personal here. Back to it. So with the reduced amount used, I was able to get through a whole week on 1 roll (just me, not the whole family, were not 1 square only kinda people, don't freak out).  Then there's the wipes. So refreshing! I've always had a bit of an OCD about not feeling clean enough down there. This was a problem solver. I only wish I could take them to work, but I think I might get harassed if I walked to the bathroom with a pack of wet wipes.
They should make pocket packs. *idea alert*.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Clean Care Routine and associated Cottonelle products. I've found that I feel more fresh and clean through-out the day, and for the sake of not getting to gross, more generally "healthy" in the down under ;). The price is right too! The 4 packs retail about the same as my existing brand and from my evaluation appear they may actually last longer, making them of higher value. No complaints.

The Ceremony

Back to the wedding album, time to start cranking the pages out, less then a month left for their 1 year anniversary when I give them this gift.
I really love the sketch I used for this page ---->  Sketch 336 Scrapbook Challenges
Super simple page, the cardstock is all DCWV from the Latte Stack & two small Making Memories pearls at the bottom.

Pattern Paper Play

So this week over at, its Pattern Play. This is the first class I have taken with them, and it has been worth every penny. I really hate pattern papers. I really LOVE pattern papers, but never know how / when / where to use them. It never looks right to me and this class has put it into the right perspective. I believe you can still register. Go check it out!

Here's a card I made for the class;

I went with a Kraft base, and choose some patterns from My Minds Eye & Lost and Found. The sentiment is from Unity's Best Wishes and Blooms. After I sized and pieced all my papers together, I finished it off with a quick border run though my Sizzix and a cute little heart punch, which I dotted up with some white Enamel Accents.

Remember This...

Another one for the Wedding album. Here's a layout showcasing the bridal party dance.
Inspired by floating paper lanterns;

I started with a blank slate, white cardstock (colorbok)
Stamped assorted circles with Versa Mark and colored with Pebbles Chalk.
Sprayed some Gold Tattered Angels.
Framed and Adhered my photos and topped them all off with a pink ribbon Bow.

Feeling a Bit Accomplished...

I just learned how to scan & photo merge scrapbook layouts. A little bit excited about this :)

So until I can get the fancy camera I want, now I don't have to grunt and groan because my point & shoot isn't capturing my pages right... muhahahahaha....

Anyway, Here a layout for the wedding album I am working on. This one showcases a couple more of the "little details" photographed through-out the day. I have assigned myself a large challenge that is to scrap my scraps. My paper scraps box is over flowing and I never use them - So now, I am not allowed to make anything without using something from the box. I ended up making this entire layout with scraps, accomplishment # 2 of the night.

Celebrate Spring

Holy Heat Wave! It was 60 here in Michigan today -- Its going to be 45 tomorrow, but I'll take what I can get. I fired up the grill for the first time in 2013 :).. Steak, Yum. Then I made this;
A Cricut project for Spring.
I used the April Showers cartridge + the scallop background from the Spring Cards cartridge.
I stamped and embossed "Celebrate" from Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday then cut out my assorted images.
Birdie needed some dimension so I stamped & embossed some Hero Arts Cling Dots on him, then topped everything off with some twine. The cardstock is DWWV Blossom Song stack.

You're Amazing

Yay! My Simon Says Stamp order came in on Friday.
I really wanted the new set Flower Friends - and here is the project I made with it.
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp "Flower Friends"

"Pearlescent Lavender" Tsukineko Mememto "Rhubarb Stalk" (sentiment)

Forever & Always

Another page to the good ole' wedding album. This one was Teresa Collins inspired. I used her stamps & cut outs from the Sophisticated Cricut Cartridge & "Fabrications" Stamps.

I decided early I wanted a chandelier somewhere on my page after browsing through the images on the Sophisticated cartridge & since these were first dance photo's, it seemed appropriate. I added some rhinestones to the Chandelier for a little bling. The sentiment was from the same cartridge, after cutting it out, I covered with glossy accents to make it pop. The photos were cut out using spellbinders grand ovals. Then the page was finished with some ribbon, additional cut out embellishments from the Sophisticated cartridge, and finally a few match stamps cut out with a circle punch and filled in with some black glossy enamel.

Its Margarita Time!!

Yay!! Its Friday! And that means two things...
      1)   ITS FRIDAY!!!!
           2) Its Friends with Flair Friday!!
The only better thing would be if it was Pay Week Friends with Flair Friday... Next Week...

So Kroger had these Bud Light Limearita's for $1 and I Like Margaritas and I like Bud Light so I thought, What the Heck.

Then I remembered I am one of those people that doesn't let my food touch... So why would I let my beer touch my margarita?

But I already opened it, and I am not going to waste!!

Its not that good.... Just saying. If you want a Margarita get a Margarita and if you want a beer get a beer. That's all.

Now to the Real Margarita

A lot of Unity Love in this one.
The Background is from the Quiet Essence pack, Stamped with some PTI Dye Ink.
The Tag was first stamped/embossed with an Ornate Artisian Stackers stamp, then cut out with the coordinaing spellbinders die. The sentiment and lovely stickles rimmed margarita are from self titled Itty Bitty "When Life Gives You Limes"

Wishes & Magic & Beautiful

I Love this bow I got over at!!
So, Simon Says Stamp says use a stamp you love but never use and I knew exactly which box to go in.
My Tim Holtz Box. I love his stamps and own a trillion, but I never use them.
So I blew off the dust and here is what we got!

I embossed the background with "Circles" by spellbinders.
Cut out my tag with spellbinders Ornate Artisian and stamped my Tim Holtz.
The heart is actually ink + pearlx, but it didn't photograph well.
Then I cut out my silhouette bow :)

Simply Charming...

Another page for the wedding album. This one show cases the charm one of the bridesmaids put on Nicole's bouquet, so that her parents could walk her down the isle.

I used a sketch from this months Unity Challenge & a neat trick from Jennifer McQuire's video here.
I started with Kraft Cardstock in my Silhouette where I used sketch pens to get my journaling on there. Then I stamped a bunch of daisy flowers with soft sand, I should have used soft brown probably, because soft sand ended up the color of the Kraft after it dried, lesson learned. Then I started the ghosting technique by stamping a bunch on Unity "Flowers & Friends" in Versa Mark Cloud White & then in assorted PTI Dye Inks.

Last Fling Before the Ring!!

So I am working on an album for my best friends first year anniversary with all the pics from the wedding and all that led up to is :) Including the Bachelorette Party. I had seen a magazine cover that was set up similar to this, and thought it would make a good page! The cardstock is all colorbok. I cut the title out using assorted fonts from the Cricut Catrtridge Storybook.  I topped it all off with a faux veil from tule, to mock the one we made her wear all night ( it lasted 5 minutes before she lost it ).

Happy Anniversary

Hello There -- Here I am with power finally :). We lost it around 10 last night ( while I was in the middle of some heat embossing ). I finished said project today. An anniversary card for my best friend and her husband who will be celebrating their first year in April. I also did their Bridal Shower Invitation's and have been scrapbooking their wedding photos for their anniversary gift.

The cardstock was mostly scraps I had lying around, but the puple flowers were made from this interesting adhesive backed crinkly fabricy glitter paper from Jolee's Botique. I wasn't sure if it would make in through heat embossing, but it did. Sentiment was stamped on my favorite Labels 14 by Spellbinders, and the stamps were a mix from Hero Arts Friendship Messages & Everyday Sayings.

I got my sketch from Cardabilities
And was inspired by Muse Deanna's Paper Piece flowers
 @ Monday Muse

Also super quick I wanted to share this new tool that I LOVE.
This is the Kelly Kraft Get it Straight Laser Square. My mom got it for me for Christmas because she said my projects were always crooked... Psshht. Well, They wont be anymore. I just love this thing!
Its a permanent fixture on my craft table now!

I'm runnin' on fumes here, power is going in and out due to our fun ice/snow/mix storm in the mitten.
We'll I've gotten one project done while the lights are still on at least :)

This was a quick and simple card using a DCWV February Challenge Sketch. I used the beautiful Blossom Song stack with some washi tape. Stamped the sentiment with my favorite Lawn Fawn alpha stamps, and finished it with a little twine bow.

You Are My Sunshine!

I gave my Silhouette a real run for its money with this one!! All those little teeny tiny holes!

I wanted a raised effect with the butterfly, so I chose to "window" them. I used the Butterfly Filigre file . After arranging it the way I wanted on a 5x7 rectangle,  I did a  .1 offset on each to make the window.

I stamped my sentiment, A combinnation of Hero Arts stamps, and affixed some cute polka dot buttons with twine.

I though the butterflies needed a  little bling, so they got bedazzled bodies, wish it showed up better in the picture.

Super Simple Super Chocolate Cupcakes!

Here's a cute little cricut project.
I made a recipe card for my Super Simple Super Chocolate Cake/Cupcakes recipe.

The card size it 8.5x5.5 (half of a letter size piece of paper) I think I will eventually either make a box or book to put cards this size in.

I'd like to keep going using the same "Sweet" heading for all my dessert recipes, and swap out the bottom designs.
Need more food cartridge though haha any suggestions?

A Little Love

Not sure if I really should've been in the craft room this weekend. Wisdom Tooth Extraction 101 was this Friday, and I am still a little wacky from the pain killers. When they say don't operate heavy machinery, do you think a sewing machine counts? Meh -- Whatev!

I wanted to get a quick and simple Valentine's done as I am way behind and haven't posted in a while. Already had the sewing machine out for a little scarf project -- So I though I would stitch together a quick love note.

I was searching the cricut craft room for the perfect heart for this ombre style card I had envisioned, and of all the hearts in my collection it turned out the perfect one was the plain ole cricut craft room basics. I really love the search function in craft room ( I only recently found it ).

Anyway, I digress...

So I choose 4 assorted pink colors from Coordinations cardstock and cut 4 1" hearts from each. After embossing a 5x5 square of background paper, I adhered then stitched on the hearts. The sentiment was a mix of Lawn Fawn (Quinn's ABCs) stamped in Black Memories Ink & the "you" off a thinking of you Hero Arts sentiment, which was stamped with Versa Mark then embossed with some Ranger Turquoise embossing powder.

There you have it! Hope you like.

I will be entering this card into the FCCB: Queen of Hearts challenge & Lawnscaping: Be My Valentine

You May Kiss the Bride!!

Birthday Wishes!

Ahh.. Third and Final January Birthday --- I think. I could be forgetting someone... Its very possible. Cross that bridge later :).
So for my brother, who usually gets lottery tickets for his b-day -- Is getting a one-up from the usualy card. I've made a box!

I've really been wanting to use my new Tags, Bags, Boxes & More 2 cartridge. I'm very thrilled with it. Not sure if it is suppose to in some way score the lines for you, I just used my scoreboard. I wish it at least gave you a guide for where to score (besides in the book) but overall I am happy.

Here's what I made

I used the BnsCdBox image from TBBM2 cut on DCWV Indian Summer paper, Added the stamp & tag die cut from my new Sentimentals cartridge, and finished with the sentiment from Birthday Bash cartridge.
I embossed the tag with my Sizzix and sanded to let the Kraft Core show
through for a rough touch.

I've entered this into the It's A Mans World challenge at FCCB

Happy Happy Birthday Cards!

Phew - This new year is already flying by. A week of clean up and I was finally able to make it into my craft room. I got a lot of new craft items from my mom, including the complete set of distress markers :).
But I had to do a lot of reorganizing to fit everything BLAH.
I've got quite a few January birthdays, so here's where I started.
For Nicole I decided to go a little crazy with the Washi Tape (my favorite thing). Original plan was all washi, but I changed my mind and added in some Imaginese Rhinestone with the Irock & Candi.
TPC Studi Sentiment stamped in Memories Tuxedo Black.
