Fall is Fun Scrapbook Layout with Echo Park Paper

Fall is here whether we like it or don't. I know some people love fall most of all, I for one, do not. Don't get me wrong apple cider and pumpkin spice lattes are great and all, but they would be great with warmer weather too! All thought after the nasty humid summer we had this year, maybe I will like fall after all. Annyyway....

This is a layout I created with the new Echo Park Celebrate Autumn collection.
The photos here are me and each of my siblings at age 1 in the leaves.

I started my layout buy cutting out a bunch of leaves from an Echo Park silhouette cut file out of autumn colored card stock, and backed some with patterned papers from the collection.
After I had my arrangement the way I wanted it, I used Press N Seal wrap to help it stay in formation while I set the rest of the page up. Later, I will peel this and it will stay perfectly arranged, allowed me to add adhesive and tack back down just the way I want it.

From there I started setting up where my photos would go. I used the WRMK tab punch board to make labels for each photo. I don't do a lot of journaling on my layouts, but I do always notate date and place if applicable and this punch board comes in handy!

Next I planned out where my border strip would go. Once I knew, I used my WRMK laser square to keep my place for me for later.

From here I picked up all the elements off the page and started adding adhesive and laying them back down, first the border strip, then my leaves, and finally my photos which I mounted onto the dark brown card stock.

I added an embellishment cluster in the top right corner just to give the eye something else to draw to. For the most part I kept this layout very simple

I love the leaves from their cut file, they look great both backed, and unbacked.
The cut file also comes with a sentiment, but I choose to keep it to the stickers that came in the kit.

a2z scrapbooking | Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Fancy Die

Hi Everyone, I've got some more holiday inspiration for your card fiesta this year! So I've been really diggin' the Hero Arts Very Merry Tree die every since I got it, I can't put it down! This is my second post with this die, head over here for a some more traditional colors, this time I'm doing the non-traditional christmas colors thing :)
Card Set Handmade Hero Arts Very Merry Tree
I sat down, pulled out some Hero Arts Layering Papers and went to town making a 6 piece card set using just one die, 4 sheets of paper, and some white card stock. Unfortunately due to an occupational hazard one card didn't survive.
Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die
My original plan was just a set of cards using the darkest and lightest color in the paper layering set one shade for the positive space and one for the negative, but as I got working it turned into so much more, and really didn't take me all that long. I'll walk you though each design.
Hero Arts Very Merry Tree
This was the first (and most difficult) card I did. I inlaid the light pool color into the dark pool. What I didn't realize was how tricky it would be. On my first (sacrificed) card, I adhered the main piece with the words down first then tried to piece the negative space inside. Because of how delicate and the scripty words are, they move and didn't glue down in perfect alignment, so the pieces didn't fit :(

What I learned the 2nd time around was; run the light pool or inside layer through the die cut machine first and leave the pieces in the die. Add adhesive to the pieces that will be glued down while everything is still stuck in the die. Carefully flip the whole thing, die and all, over onto you card base. While that dies a little run your other color through the die machine. Remove your positive space piece, but keep your negative spaces for later!

Now back on the card, carefully lift up the die and the postive space piece (save for later) and replace it with the one you just cut out. Doing it this way made everything line up perfectly for me!
Hero Arts Very Merry Christmas Tree
The original look I was going for was the inlaid look from the previous card, but that ended up being more work than I wanted to put in and this one ended up being my favorite anyway!

I cut the die our from the lightest shade in the reds, I carefully peeled up the positive space (with the words) and left all the negative space piece in the die for later. I then backed the die cut with some of the light pool card stock, which I had glittered with some fun microfine glitter.
I will probably make a bunch more of these.

Now I took the light pink pieces (still stuck in the die), added adhesive to the back of them, and stuck them down die and all to an a2 sized card base. Let it dry for a minute and carefully peel the die up. It was a little too plain so I did some ink blending around the edges.
Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die
I wasn't ready to stop so I repeated the process from the last two cards, this time I used a shimmer pen over the negative space vs. glittering the cardstock, for a less dramatic sparkle.
Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die
Like before I adhered the negative space down to a white a2 card base and this time decided to create a frame using a rectangle die instead of ink blending around the edges.
All the cards got a nice sprinkling of snowflakes from last years Hero Arts Snowflake Confetti die.

Park Lane Paperie WINNER & ANNOUNCEMENT

First of all I would like to thank everyone that entered and sent your kind words.
Before I announce the winner I'd like to say something I naively hoped I never would have to.

I've noticed on other crafters giveaways they've had to make statements regarding excluding unfollowers from future giveaways - I never though small time me with my little giveaways would be affected by this, but it turns out I was wrong. You should know that I and many other crafters do these giveaways with products we've purchased with our own funds simply as a kindness to share and network with fellow crafters in what should be a kind and loving community.

Following someone simply to get a giveaway entry only to turn around and unfollow them later is not only very hurtful, but incredibly uncool. I know I wasn't giving away any fantastic expensive prize here, but I found something I liked and wanted to share some - and you never know what someone else is going through. You don't know that the little money I spent here on this giveaway was most of my crafting budget for the month due to my current circumstances, and I choose to use that money to share a little bit of kindness with someone else.

That being said - If you feel the need to unfollow my social media accounts 👋
Future giveaways will prohibit and block those that follow and unfollow just to get a giveaway entry. Its not only rude and hurtful to the person doing the giveaway, but unfair to the other entrants who had no intentions of doing such a thing. Maybe you didn't think your actions had those consequences so I'm giving a one time free pass.

For the rest of you, especially those that took the time to read all this.
Know that I love you and I'm happy your here and I wish we could all hang out and craft together in person, but I'll settle for crafting together in this blog land world.
Give me your blogs/social links below in the comments so I can follow back if I don't already!

Rant over and lets get to the fun stuff!!
A big congrats to Amy - She has been contacted and the goodies are in transit.

My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar 2018

I'm tossing a couple cards in the ring for the 2018 card design superstar over at the My Favorite Things blog. First up in my clean and simple card:

I started with a white a2 sized panel which I trimmed slightly smaller and used some post it tape to mask of the bottom and added some light ink blending over top of the brick wall stencil. Next I colored and cut out one of the images from the Beary Special Birthday stamp set, added it to my panel with some foam adhesive, and stamped my sentiment below the ink blending before added onto a gray a2z card panel.

Next I have a card for the Innovation Master challenge. I created a pop up card using a template I found on you tube. I decorated the front using an assortment of MFT Patterned Papers.

And even more on the inside!

The stamped images and sentiments are from the Party Animals stamp set, with the exception of the HBD2U which is from an older alphabet set from My Favorite Things. I thought some of the panels were a little too plain, so I added white ink over top of the brick wall stencil.
